Internship Services
Integral to the BEC mission of “make learning real,” intern-ships establish a priceless connection between the classroom and workplace. As students and educators apply their skills to the business world and bring that learning back to the classroom, they help shape the workforce of tomorrow.

Hiring an intern is made easy with the BEC. From start to finish, the details are handled — from recruiting to matching, interview scheduling, new hire orientation, progress monitoring, etc.

Student internships: Through a year-round program, high school students are able to “sample” potential career fields while gaining a deeper understanding of how classroom learning is relevant to their future. Such career related learning experiences are an essential element in Oregon's new high school reform standards. College students, on the other hand, meet their learning objectives with practical experience and advanced training in their field of study.

Educator internships: For two decades, the BEC has been providing K-12 and post-secondary teachers with professional development opportunities in the workplace. This flagship program not only builds skills that enrich the classroom experience for all students, but as important, informs educators on what business needs and expects of future employees.

National Engineers Month: As the local extension of the national program, the BEC raises student awareness of the opportunities and rewards of being an engineer. As scores of professional engineers from diverse disciplines pour into elementary, middle and high school classrooms, thousands of students are reached and excitement for math and science is generated.

Collaborative Teacher Development Initiative: To ensure the personalized, meaningful learning experiences necessary for high achievement, the BEC is leading a collaboration of educators from K-12 to university levels and business. With a focus on the developmental needs of high school teachers, new models are being created that will change the ways educators are trained, and most important, the way they engage students and inspire lifelong learning.

CED School System: The BEC uses the CED School System to deliver services to our customers in a quick and easy fashion and to provide career learning resources for Oregon businesses and schools.

"The most urgent task our generation confronts is recreating public education and rebuilding the partnership between the nations schools and the community they serve."
