Students walked away excited about learning and the field of engineering!

The students were enthusiastic and enjoyed the hands-on construction. They learned a lot more about energy. They also will be more aware of job possibilities as an engineer. It was a very good presentation!

Very enthusiastic and connected to students on their level. The activity was very engaging.

More students became interested in math and science areas after the presentation and their horizons were broadened.

Students greatly appreciated hearing from an expert. They were very engaged in the hands-on activity our speaker provided. I am already planning to participate next year.

"It was great for the students to learn from 'real world scientists.' The presenters did a great job balancing information about what engineers do (students were surprised by influence of engineers in their everyday lives) and preparing a hands-on activity. I was thrilled to make a connection with a local resource for future 'guest speaker' presentations."

His presentation tied directly into what we have been studying (renewable energy) as well as the hands on activity (engineering/design). It is refreshing to be able for the kids to make a connection between what we are studying in class to the real world.

They were really WOWED and excited about seeing the exclusive pictures and objects. (The volunteer) was a natural in the classroom and fielded questions with ease. It was a very exciting day for everyone.

"The students saw a connection between what they learn in school to 'real' life......Many students want to 'be engineers.' They were surprised how many kinds there are."

The hands-on activities for bridge construction were great! Students also gained a better understanding of what an engineer does for ODOT and the education required.

Students saw a person that works outside the school giving information about science and needing to continue their education. Hands on activity to work together to solve problems.

"Engaging, fun activity incorporating the new science standard 'engineering design' and competition. Additionally, learning more about the engineering field as a career."

"They see how what they're learning is actually used in careers. They get to hear from a person in the field, ask questions, and see that there are more career options than they usually think of (actor, athlete, doctor, and lawyer)."

Our students love it when 'experts' visit our classrooms. The students also enjoyed the hands on activity

Acknowledgement that science CAN be applied to real life scenarios. An understanding that our world needs more engineers. Career guidance. Learning experiences through the activities.

I believe this opened our students to different job possibilities that they were not aware of. It is one of our favorite presentations that we host throughout the year. Very informational! Excellent.

Having (the volunteer) in my class enabled my students to get a real life perspective on the concepts I am teaching. Very Positive Experience.

He provided a great background for the students. The videos and activities were perfect. His enthusiasm was contagious. We felt very lucky to have him!

All my experiences with NEM engineers have been exclusively positive. It's so valuable for my students to see and hear what engineers do.

They were able to see and discuss a career path and see the application of Chemistry with real world activity.
