School Grants

Collaborative Teacher Development Initiative

In Spring 2006, the BEC sent out an RFP requesting grant proposals from Oregon schools interested in participating in the Collaborative Teacher Development Initiative. Entitled "Teacher Leadership for Increasing Student Success,” the purpose of the RFP was to provide grant recipients the opportunity to create a new professional development model to enhance the professional practice of high school teachers.

Organizations Funded

The RFP grant process is now closed and the following schools were awarded grants.

1. Colton School District
Purpose: “In-depth teacher training on development of academically rigorous and relevant lessons using the International Center for Leadership in Education (ICLE) Rigor/Relevance Framework.”

2. Klamath Falls City Schools
Purpose: “Changing school culture for teachers to become facilitators of student learning, coaches and mentors.”

3. Lane ESD and Lane County Schools
Purpose: “Math in CTE Project that increases teacher ability to connect curriculum with real-life application of math in career and technical education classes and builds a community of practice for teachers.”

4. Springfield High School
Purpose: “Teachers helping teachers through a peer observation project that increases teacher performance through effective observation and collaboration.”

5. Yamhill Carlton School District
Purpose: “Creating a culture of learning and leadership and a new model of teacher evaluation.”
